FELLOWSHIPS AND GRANTS Most students need assistance with tuition payments. Some work scholarships and merit tuition assistance plans are available to qualified applicants. Information about this assistance will be supplied when the student's merit and/or need is verified. All students who have financial needs are encouraged to consider the areas where the University may provide assistance. Students should apply at the earliest date possible. Assistance is limited to funds available. Tuition Voucher Studentship Upon scheduling a specific entry date by payment of the $195 Program Entry Fee, all applicants who need financial assistance should complete and submit a Financial Assistance Application along with supporting documents. The University may grant up to $10,000 in tuition vouchers prorated over ten terms and coterminous with tuition payments or defer a portion of tuition until after graduation. The actual amount of the scholarship grant is based on the assets and earnings of the student. The amount of deferred tuition is based on the fellowship consideration. Annual taxable family income must be known to process the application. Secured Tuition Endowment Program (S.T.E.P.) The University provides a generous studentship and fellowship program for qualified students. A no-interest tuition monthly payment plan runs concurrent with the first ten terms of a student's academic Program of Study. S.T.E.P. also provides qualified students with the option of a partial tuition deferment plan as follows: S.T.E.P. ONE - Based on financial information submitted by the student, the Financial Aid Committee is able to award a S.T.E.P. Tuition Voucher Studentship or a Fellowship Grant of up to 10,000 us. The Business Office shall evaluate the amount of studentship or fellowship awarded and determine if the student is eligible to defer a portion of the tuition. If less than $10,000 studentship was awarded, the student may elect to defer a portion of tuition until after graduation. Interest and principal will begin following graduation. The pay back is calculated the same as the U.S. Guaranteed Student Loan Program. S.T.E.P. TWO -The Business Office will negotiate a financial contract with the student for the balance of tuition. This contract is paid monthly (no-interest) concurrent with the first ten terms of a student's academic program. The University does not require its students to make large cash outlays for tuition in lump-sum payments at registration for the term. Instead the institution allows eligible students to pay tuition (not fees) at monthly intervals, spread over the duration of the Program of Study (36 to 48 months) No interest is charged as long as payments are current and on time. To be eligible for this payment plan, the student must have the ability to pay regular payments. S.T.E.P. is funded by gifts from faculty, alumni, and interested donors. Bi-Vocational Research Grant This grant is available to bi-vocational professionals with at least eight (8) years of service in the field and wish to do research related to bi-vocational ministry, Marriage and Family Intimacy Grant This grant is funded by the Center for Marriage and Family Intimacy, Austin, Texas. Funds are awarded on the basis of an approved proposal with potential for advancing existing knowledge in the area of marriage and family intimacy. Research should include Biblical correlation and practical application. The Faculty reviews preliminary proposals and those deemed appropriate to the areas of concern will receive guidance in developing a full proposal to meet grant criteria. Scholars of Merit Fellowship Friends of the University underwrite this assistance. Assistance is awarded based on past academic merit and present academic performance. Recipient will serve as a Teaching Fellow and be assigned to a member of the Graduate Core Faculty. Student Assistance Grants Special needs grants are available in the case of extremely limited family income and are granted on the basis of need and research goals.
